Bead Sizes

4mm

The 4mm bead is a very small bead. Due to its size, it makes a rosary that is quite light and perfect for that special occasion. The idea came from a request of a Deacon friend who wanted a gift for a new godchild. His desire was to have something dainty and tiny for the baby’s first rosary.

6mm

Often used in our First Communion rosaries, our 6mm beads are easy for young adults to begin their prayer journeys. We have also learned from our experience that for all those who like smaller beads, this size tends to be the right one for them.

8mm

The 8mm Ave (Hail Mary) bead is our most popular.  Lighter in weight than the 10mm, the 8mm rosary is small enough for carrying in a pocket, easily manipulated in the hand, and is a more traditional size.  Fingers just roll easily over these beads while the mind and heart are in the meditation of the mysteries of the most holy rosary.

10mm

A bit heavier in weight than the 8mm,  rosaries made with the 10mm Ave feel heartier to hold without being bulky.  They are great to keep by the bedside or travel with because they aren’t easily lost or misplaced.  They are handled easily by small or large hands and make a gorgeous rosary to bring with you to a community rosary or for quiet meditation in your favorite prayer chair.

12mm

Although we have made some 12mm rosaries, we most often use this bead as the larger Pater or Our Father bead.  Making a rosary completely with 12mm beads would benefit the visually impaired who may have trouble finding a smaller rosary, or for arthritic hands, or just hands which prefer a very hearty feel beneath the fingers.
